We are now looking for a Bookings and Operations Administrator to support our daily operations. Responsibilities include answering the phone, processing bookings, managing our busy bookings diary, maintaining financial and customer records, data entry and providing administrative support to the marketing team, the directors and centre management.

Essential Skills:

• Confident phone manner.
• Computer literate with advanced skills across Microsoft Office, Google Suite or similar.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to produce reports and perform web based market research.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Comfortable working with numbers.

Position Type: Casual

Salary: Per Amusement, Events and Recreation Award.

Job Role:

• Welcoming players and guiding them through electronic check-in.
• Briefing each group on game process and rules.
• Escorting players to their chosen room.
• Following each room’s game play from monitors in reception.
• Assist with clues as and when required.
• Greet players as they exit game and farewell the group as they leave.
• Reset escape rooms for next group.
• Other duties as required.

Escape This creates theatre-standard escape rooms and sends players on a journey to another world.

We pride ourselves on our theatrical sets and the realistic quality of our props and puzzles. Our escape rooms are ‘immersive theatre’ and we are continually striving to develop bigger and better experiences.

Position Type: Full Time or Causal

Salary: $60 to $80k dependant upon experience.

Job Role:

Set Builder, Scenic Artistry, building props and the installation of puzzles and special effects all fall within the props department. You will be handy, creative and have appropriate experience within the theatre, film or live performance sector.

Working with our props team and Creative Director you will be at the very heart of our set builds and customer experience.

• Fabrication and assembly of props and scenery for a diverse set of escape rooms.
• Maintain, upgrade and replace worn props puzzles and scenic sets post-launch.
• Contribute ideas, concepts and puzzle lines for new rooms or individual props and scenic elements. Work with Puzzle Technician/s to produce novel and exciting themed puzzles. Maintain, repair and improve on existing props and scenic sets.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• You will have worked on theatre or film productions.
• A level of creativity is required.
• Experience with a range of hand and power tools.
• Woodworking skills essential
• A high degree of fitness and flexibility is required - escape rooms feature secret passageways and hard to reach places. Heavy lifting is involved.

Qualifications:

An appropriate WAAPA or equivalent qualification.

Escape This is looking for a Puzzle Technician (Electronics) to join our Perth HQ backstage team.

Position Type: Full Time permanent.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.

Job Role:

Electronics power the special effects, theatrics and incredible puzzles within our escape rooms. In this role you will be working alongside our Props Master, Set Builder and Creative Director as we design, build, modify, improve and maintain the electronic wizardry that amazes and stumps our guests on a daily basis.

The offered role includes both workshop and on-site requirements. 

This role would suit a Graduate student or skilled hobbyist looking to broaden their experience and apply their knowledge in an exciting commercial environment.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Computer literate;
• Arduino and Raspberry Pi programming skills (C+, C++ & Python based);
• Familiarity with Visual studio code would be highly regarded;
• Good Analytical skills and a can-do persona, willing to be part of a highly skilled and fun technical team.
• A soldering iron ninja;
• Sound knowledge of electronics components and their application;
• Crafty, creative and highly technical;
• Experience working safely with a variety of tools; and
• Efficient, organised and able to work to strict deadlines. Flexible.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• PCB design and build;
• Cat 5/6 cabling;
• Ethernet and Serial comms;
• Audio system setup and design; and
• Other skills and experience relevant to stage production.

Qualifications: Related qualifications are highly regarded but not essential.

We are very excited to welcome a Production Assistant / Game Designer to our ever-growing ‘Backstage’ (HQ) team! We’re seeking a long-term recruit to join our dynamic team – based in Perth but critical to the expansion of Escape This in Perth… in Sydney… in Melbourne… and beyond!

You will be working closely with our Backstage and Production Team assisting with some or, possibly, all of the following :

• Room concept
• Storyboarding
• Puzzle flow design
• Clue design
• Story and Narrative
• Scripts for our voiceover artists
• Soundscape design and editing
• Sound effect production

Essential Skills:

1. You will have at least 2 years experience in a creative industry.
2. Fully computer literate and able to navigate a variety of computer software packages and able to pick up new systems quickly.
3. Be self motivated with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Strong organisational skills will be highly valued.
5. You will enjoy writing - both stories and scripts - with eloquence, drama and awesome grammar!

Advantageous but not essential:

• You read science fiction and fantasy in your spare time.
• You enjoy board and/or role playing games.
• You might have tried your hand at board game or puzzle design.
• You love escape rooms.
• You are musically minded and might well be in a band.
• You have experience with audio editing software such as Adobe Audition, Garageband, Logic Pro, Sound Forge, Audacity or similar.
• Experience in the theatre or performing arts would definitely be an asset.
• Copywriting skills also advantageous.
