Puzzle Technician (Electronics) | Bayswater HQ
Escape This is looking for a Puzzle Technician (Electronics) to join our Perth HQ backstage team.
Position Type: Full Time permanent.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
Job Role:
Electronics power the special effects, theatrics and incredible puzzles within our escape rooms. In this role you will be working alongside our Props Master, Set Builder and Creative Director as we design, build, modify, improve and maintain the electronic wizardry that amazes and stumps our guests on a daily basis.
The offered role includes both workshop and on-site requirements.
This role would suit a Graduate student or skilled hobbyist looking to broaden their experience and apply their knowledge in an exciting commercial environment.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Computer literate;
- Arduino and Raspberry Pi programming skills (C+, C++ & Python based);
- Familiarity with Visual studio code would be highly regarded;
- Good Analytical skills and a can-do persona, willing to be part of a highly skilled and fun technical team.
- A soldering iron ninja;
- Sound knowledge of electronics components and their application;
- Crafty, creative and highly technical;
- Experience working safely with a variety of tools; and
- Efficient, organised and able to work to strict deadlines. Flexible.

Job Role: Escape This Northbridge is home to some of Australia’s most immersive and spine-tingling escape rooms — from Dracula’s Graveyard to The Asylum and Zombie Apocalypse.
As Assistant Venue Manager, you’ll be the right hand to the Venue Manager, helping to run the show behind the screams. You’ll lead a team of Game Masters, oversee operations, and ensure every experience runs smoothly, safely, and with cinematic flair.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role in a live entertainment environment. One night you might be managing a sold-out Saturday; the next, fine-tuning lighting cues to make every scare land perfectly.
Essential Skills & Experience:

Maintenance Hand | Sydney/Manly
Position Type: Full-time role with a rotating schedule (occasional weekends included)
Role
Set Building, Scenic Artistry, building props and the installation of puzzles and special effects all fall within the backstage department. You will be handy, creative and have appropriate experience within the theatre, film or live performance sector.
Working with your Venue Manager, you'll be responsible for:
- Assembling and installing props and scenery for a diverse set of escape rooms.
- Maintain, upgrade and replace worn props puzzles and scenic sets post-launch, as well as front of house areas
- Co-ordinating with your Venue Manager and Backstage Leads on improvement and upgrades to existing escape rooms
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in theatre, film, or live performance production.
- Creativity and proficiency in using a range of hand and power tools.
- Experience with a range of hand and power tools.
- Woodworking skills essential
- Colour theory and the use of paints, with a particular eye for scenic painting
- Computer aided drawing e.g. CAD, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, etc
- Construction drawing experience
- A high degree of fitness and flexibility is required - escape rooms feature secret passageways and hard to reach places. Heavy lifting is involved.
Qualifications
An appropriate WAAPA Props & Scenery, NIDA Props & Effects or equivalent qualification. (preferred)

Puzzle Maintenance Assistant (Electronics) | Sydney/Manly
Position Type: Casual position with a rotating schedule (occasional weekends included)

About the Role:
Escape This is looking for a hands-on Puzzle Maintenance Assistant to join our Sydney/Manly venue team.
This role focuses on keeping our escape rooms running smoothly by performing on-site maintenance and minor repairs to electronic puzzles and effects. You’ll be the first point of contact for technical issues in Sydney, working closely with our Perth-based engineering team when larger upgrades or design changes are needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Carry out routine checks and minor repairs on electronic puzzles and effects.
- Troubleshoot simple faults and replace components as required.
- Work safely with tools for soldering, wiring, and basic hardware adjustments.
- Liaise with the Perth engineering team for guidance and escalate larger technical issues.
- Ensure minimal disruption to guests by resolving maintenance issues promptly.
Skills & Experience:
- Comfortable with basic electronics troubleshooting and repairs.
- Experience using soldering tools and working with common electronic components.
- Organised, reliable, and able to work to deadlines.
- A practical “fix-it” attitude with attention to detail.
Desirable (not essential):
- Familiarity with Arduino or Raspberry Pi for simple resets and updates.
- Experience with Cat5/6 cabling or audio/lighting systems.
- Interest in puzzles, escape rooms, or stage tech.
Qualifications:

As Venue Manager, you’ll command the adventure and control the chaos. You’ll lead two vibrant teams, oversee daily operations, and deliver the world-class guest experiences that define Escape This.
You’ll balance leadership, creativity, and hands-on problem solving — one moment guiding a packed Saturday night, the next fixing a misbehaving prop or rallying your team for the next big event.
